Ugh. Not that I'm surprised, but Rush Limbaugh deemed it appropriate to compare changing filibuster rules to a gang-rape. I have an idea- similarly to how we should stop likening non-genocidal murderers to Hitler, let's stop likening things that aren't rape to rape. Okay? Thanks!
So gross. On a similar note, have you noticed the comparisons being made between healthcare.gov's inability to work right to Hurricane Katrina? Newscasters keep saying that this is Obama's Hurricane Katrina. How do people think saying these types of things is okay?!
ReplyDeleteAs the political science nerd in me has to point out, the Democratic filibustering rule has been carried out by Republicans once before and will probably be carried out once again when Republicans hold a majority in the Senate. Nevertheless, I never understand how individuals can equate such a tragic experience or tragic event with a law...a law that most people dislike simply because of their lack of education on politics. The media really provides the message, so it is really scary when Rush Limbaugh and these other reporters are relaying the message to the public.
